Daniel Bowen was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. Bowen earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Iowa in 2010 and joined the TCNJ faculty later that year.

Dr. Bowen’s research and teaching interests lie in American politics and research methodology. Substantively, his work uses variation in citizen opinions and behavior to evaluate political institutions, institutional performance, and political processes, with a focus on U.S. legislative institutions. His work has appeared in several academic journals including the Journal of Politics, Political Research Quarterly, and American Politics Research.

At TCNJ, Dr. Bowen has had the opportunity to teach several courses in his fields of expertise. He teaches Political Analysis, a course designed to equip students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary to design and conduct quantitative political science research, every semester. His other classes included Public Opinion, Voting Behavior, and Elections, Congressional Elections and Representation (Junior Tutorial), and American State Politics (Senior Seminar).

Daniel and his wife, Elissa, have two young children who keep them very busy (and happy). They live in Ewing.
